A Little About Me

I’m Erica—the voice behind Modern KidMin.

I’m a mom of two teenage boys, and my professional journey has taken some winding (and formative) turns. Over the years, I’ve worked as a Speech Therapist, owned a custom cake business, taught English online to kids in China, and spent five years serving as a Children’s Ministry Director at a large, non-denominational church.

It was in kids ministry leadership that everything came together.

Leading a fast-growing ministry taught me the importance of clear vision, strong systems, volunteer leadership, and sustainable rhythms. I worked closely with teams of volunteers, navigated constant change, and learned firsthand what it takes to build ministry that supports both people and purpose.

Along the way, I also had the opportunity to teach at conferences, lead training events, and coach other churches—helping leaders develop healthier volunteer cultures and more organized, sustainable ministries.

Modern KidMin is built from that lived experience—not theory, not trends, and not perfection.
It exists to support kids ministry leaders who care deeply about their calling and want to lead thoughtfully, clearly, and sustainably.
